Reimage Review – Can It Handle All Your Computer Repair And Maintenance Needs?
Reimage is the product of choice for Windows users who require a computer repair and maintenance solution, but do not wish to pay expensive technician costs or be without their PC for long periods of time. I’ve been using Reimage since September 2008 on three computers, so have benefited from stable, fast, bug-free computers as a result of using Reimage.
What is Reimage, and what is ‘reimaging’?
Reimage is a PC maintenance software service available over the internet that can make your Windows XP machine run like new, without needing to reinstall Windows XP and without loss of personal data.
It checks the health of your system files in a 30 minute scan, diagnoses operating system (OS) problems, and replaces objects detected as faulty or missing on the PC using a spare parts repository of 25 million files. After viewing the scan results, a 30 minute online pc repair process can be run to fix all the faults. It finishes up by rebooting the PC for the repairs to take effect.
The team at Reimage realize that a computer can become faulty over time as a result of installing/removing applications, damage done by viruses, faulty drivers, registry keys being incorrectly set/missing or out of date file versions. Reimage automatically diagnoses the issues using its templates of healthy systems and then repairs the faults.
How has Reimage performed in the field?
I started using Reimage in September 2008. In this time, I have run a full scan on a quarterly basis against each of three computers (2 desktops and a work laptop). The automated scan takes 30 minutes and I am happy to say that it has performed excellently every time.
The initial scan picks up a lot of damaged system files which Reimage was able to repair using their repository. I put these initial issues down to removing over 20 applications and making hardware upgrades over the preceding years of owning the computers.
After Reimage repaired all files identified as missing or needing replacement (the online pc repair process has at most taken 30 minutes to complete) and the system was rebooted I noted quicker boot-up times straight away, improved stability of my applications and better internet connection performance. In particular, music/video applications benefited from the updated drivers.
Thankfully, no personal data regarding login details/personal settings in applications/etc. were lost at any point while the Reimage PC maintenance software’s repair process was running. This was a key point in running this on my work laptop which I use daily so needed to turnaround repairs in a single evening. It only needed 45 minutes as it turned out (30 minute scan plus 15 minute repairing) and repaired Windows XP without needing to re-format the drives, while leaving my user data and applications intact!
