The amount of business that is being conducted online is staggering. More and more businesses large and small are realizing that they must have an online presence to survive. The number of people using the Internet for commece continues to grow and show no signs of slowing down. With the downturn in the economy, hundreds of thousands of people are coming online to find a way to make money. The online marketplace is gigantic and expanding quickly.

There are a number of ways to do this but over the years it has been established that having your own website is the best way to go. You own the asset and have control over it. You can display the information you want to share and you can change it when you want. You are in control of your own destiny here.

A major reason to have a personal website is the fact that we need to brand ourselves on the Internet. When we arrange a free resource to host our marketing material, we are always limiting our potential. These limitations are in a number of critical areas. To start with, we are limited on the amount and type of content we can publish on the free resource.

I you do not have access and control of all of your content, you are at the mercy of the owner. When you are working on a free hosting setup, you do not have total control on the amount and location of your content. Many free hosting websites have strong limitations on the content quantity as well as the type of content you can put up. This is not good when you are trying to brand yourself and really get the word out about your portfolio of products and services.

Always remember that a company website is there to serve the needs and desires of that company. If you truly want control of your business, you need to have your own website. The earlier you realize this and take action on it, the sooner your business will become profitable.

A personal website is required in real estate, personal training and coaching, and many other business ventures. Having your own site is critical in any business where your customers need to”know you, like you and trust you”. With the current state of the economy and the general paranoia and skepticism that is rampant in the world today, it just makes sense for you to have your own personal site to “stand out in the crowd” and let people know you are a real, approachable person.
